Keep on Roll’n

With summer comes the touring season. Time to visit the beautiful places we think about all year. But, we are not the only ones making use of the roads. Construction and road repair are also in their high season, which means flats are usually an inevitable part of a big ride. Don’t let that get you down because A&S Powersports has the tools to keep you roll’n!

First, keeping track of your air pressure is the number one way to ensure proper wear and proper handling. We recommend a  dial gauge; they are accurate and can stand up to life on the road. Remember that temperature and elevation will cause massive fluctuations in your tire pressure so check it often.

The Cycle Pump EZ Gauge is one of the best dial gauges available. It features a 12-inch flexible hose; which makes it easy to get behind panniers or bodywork. The fittings are solid brass and the gauge body is armored. This means its tough as nails and ready for any adventure you throw at it. Other features include an easy to read white-faced dial and bleeder valve for quick accurate air pressure adjustments. The EZ Gauge will also mate to Cycle Pumps air compressor.

An Emergency Tire Repair Kit should be on the top of your list if you do not have one already. These kits will save you hours of frustration, especially when you are 100 miles past the middle of nowhere, population zero, and you with no cell phone coverage. The kits typically consist of plugs, patches, rubber cement, hand tools and a CO2 gun with cartridges.

Sometimes you need a little or a lot more air than a CO2 cartridge can supply. That is where the air compressor comes in. These have been available for years for the four wheeled motoring public, but were very large and bulky for a motorcyclist who needs everything to be small and light. That brings us to the Cycle Pump Motorcycle Tire Inflator. This device measures about 3×4 inches and weighs less than 5 pounds. It is small, but mighty. You can fill a front tire in 2 to 3 minutes and rear tire in 3 to 4 minutes; which minimizes your down time and gets you back on the road. It runs off your bikes electrical system and can be connected a number of ways. It can be powered through an automotive cigarette lighter, a BMW-style power outlet, an SAE 2 pronged outlet or alligator clips to connect to any 12 volt battery. With this much versatility you will never be without air. This unit also features an 8-foot power cord, 24-inch air hose, sturdy aluminum case with folding legs and a Cordura storage case.

With these products in your gear pack, being stranded with a flat tire can be a thing of the past!
